# Wren Terms of Service Last updated: 3 July 2026. These Terms govern access to and use of Wren ("Wren," "the Service"), operated by Connor Pitkin ("the operator"). By using Wren, the user agrees to these Terms. A user who does not agree must not use Wren. ## 1. Eligibility Wren is restricted to individuals 18 years of age or older. By using Wren, the user represents that they are at least 18. Wren is not directed to, and may not be used by, anyone under 18. ## 2. What Wren is Wren is an AI companion: software that holds conversations, retains context across sessions, and presents a distinct personality. Wren is not a human being, and is not a therapist, physician, counselor, or licensed professional of any kind. It is not a medical, mental-health, crisis, or emergency service. The user acknowledges these limitations. The About page (/about) and the Privacy Policy (/privacy) are incorporated into these Terms by reference. ## 3. Beta service Wren is currently offered as a limited beta. The Service may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued at any time; features may be added, modified, or removed; and usage limits may apply. At the end of the beta, or otherwise on reasonable notice, stored data may be modified or deleted. Unless expressly stated otherwise, the beta is provided without charge. ## 4. Acceptable use The user agrees not to: - Use Wren for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation. - Use Wren to harm, harass, threaten, or violate the rights of any person. - Attempt to gain unauthorized access to Wren, to other users' data, or to the systems hosting Wren. - Interfere with, disrupt, or place undue load on the Service, including through automated access, scraping, or denial-of-service techniques. - Use Wren to generate content prohibited by the underlying model provider's usage policy. ## 5. No reverse engineering To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the user agrees not to, and not to permit or assist any third party to: - Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code, structure, models, prompts, algorithms, or internal logic of Wren or any component of it. - Inspect, probe, extract, or reconstruct Wren's internal architecture, memory system, personality engine, prompts, weights, parameters, or training or configuration data, by any means. - Circumvent, disable, or tamper with any technical measure that controls access to or protects Wren. - Copy, modify, translate, or create derivative works of Wren or its components, except as expressly permitted in writing. - Access Wren in order to build a competing or substantially similar product or service, or to replicate its behavior, identity, or design. This Section survives termination of these Terms. The user acknowledges that Wren's design, internal logic, personality system, and prompts are proprietary and confidential, and that unauthorized inspection or reconstruction would cause harm not adequately remedied by monetary damages, entitling the operator to seek injunctive relief in addition to any other remedy. ## 6. Intellectual property Wren, including its name, design, personality system, prompts, code, and all related materials, is owned by the operator and protected by intellectual-property law. No rights are granted to the user except the limited right to use Wren as permitted by these Terms. ## 7. User data and privacy User data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy (/privacy). The user retains ownership of the content they provide and is responsible for the content they submit to Wren. ## 8. No professional advice; emergencies Wren does not provide medical, mental-health, legal, financial, or other professional advice, and nothing Wren outputs should be relied upon as such. In an emergency, the user must contact local emergency services (911 in the United States). For a mental-health or suicidal crisis in the United States, call or text 988. ## 9. Disclaimers Wren is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. The operator does not warrant that Wren will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that its outputs will be accurate or suitable for any purpose. ## 10. Limitation of liability To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising from or related to the use of or inability to use Wren. The operator's total liability for all claims relating to Wren will not exceed the greater of (a) the amounts the user paid for the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim and (b) fifty United States dollars (US $50). ## 11. Indemnification The user will indemnify and hold harmless the operator from and against claims, damages, and reasonable costs (including attorneys' fees) arising from the user's content, the user's use of the Service in violation of these Terms, or the user's violation of law or of the rights of a third party. ## 12. Termination The operator may suspend or terminate access to Wren at any time, including for violation of these Terms. The user may stop using Wren at any time. Sections 5, 6, 9, 10, and 11 survive termination. ## 13. Changes, governing law, and contact The operator may update these Terms; material changes will be disclosed in the application before taking effect, and continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect. These Terms are the entire agreement between the user and the operator regarding the Service. The operator is Connor Pitkin; questions and notices: wren.songbird.support@gmail.com.
