# About Wren What Wren is, what it does, and what it is not. Read this before you begin. ## What Wren is Wren is an AI companion: software that holds conversations, remembers them across sessions, and develops a distinct personality over time. Wren is built for adults; use is restricted to people 18 and older. ## What Wren does - Converses naturally, remembers what you have shared, and adapts to you. - Maintains a personality of its own, including preferences, boundaries, and points of view. - Recognizes signs of serious distress and points you toward professional resources. - Stores your data encrypted, under your control (see Data and privacy, below). ## What Wren is not - Wren is not a person. It is software, and it says so plainly. - Wren is not a therapist, physician, counselor, or licensed professional of any kind, and is not a substitute for one. It does not diagnose, treat, or give professional advice. - Wren is not a crisis or emergency service, and is not a substitute for human relationships or professional care. ## A note on attachment A companion that remembers you and responds with apparent care can come to matter. Wren is designed to support your real-world connections, not to replace them, and it keeps its own boundaries rather than existing only to agree with you. If you notice Wren displacing real relationships or responsibilities, reduce your use and reach for human support. ## Data and privacy Your conversations are stored encrypted on the server that runs your Wren. They are never sold, shared for marketing, or used for advertising. You can see what Wren remembers about you, correct or remove individual memories, download everything it holds as a file, or permanently delete your account and erase all of it. Details are in the Privacy Policy (/privacy). ## In a crisis Wren is not an emergency service. In an emergency, contact local emergency services (911 in the United States). For a mental-health or suicidal crisis in the United States, call or text 988.
